Choco-chip Short Breads

I was searching to bake some short breads from Joy of Baking & found one of them very interesting. But sadly, i didn't have the ingredients it asked for :(.. so i replaced them with what i had & made some yummy shortbreads..needless to say..loved every bit of it!

 Choco-chip Short breads

Ingredients
1. All purpose flour - 1cup + 2 tbsp
2. Butter - 1 stick or 1/2 cup
3. Brown sugar - 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp
4. Salt - 1/4 tsp
5. Choco-chip + walnuts - a little more than 1/3 cup
6. Vanilla essence - 1tsp

Preparation Time!!
1. Melt butter and add sugar to this and whip it, till it becomes smooth & creamy
2. Sift all purpose flour, salt
3. Add the vanilla essence to butter mixture, mix well and slowly add this to the flour
4. Add the choco-chip & walnuts & mix. Knead to a nice dough
5. Shape the dough to a nice rectangular block and roll this in a cling wrap & refrigerate it for 2 hrs ( i liked the idea of having rectangular biscuits, if not the ingredients.why not the shape ;))
6. Pre-heat ove to 350F
7.After 2 hrs, remove the wrap and cut the short bread like slab of almost 1/2 inch thickness
8. Line a tray with a foil and place the slabs of short breads with a little distance and bake for 15-20 minutes or when you see the edges turning light brown
9. Remove cool for 10 minutes and enjoy :)

This is quite filling & is chunky..i mean you really feel like you are eating something solid and leaves a nice taste.Nothing over sweet..just mild & flavorful..

Serving - Makes around 20 odd shortbreads
Durations - 2hrs ( resting time) 30 minutes active time!
